What is the application process for entry?
Contact Driskill Halfway House at the number above to expedite the application process. Applications will be reviewed and background check completed before any qualify decisions can be made.
Do I have to pay rent? What programs or insurance do you accept?
Residents are required to pay $140 week or $600 month + $250 admission fee due upon admission. We do not accept insurance or government payments.
Are there jobs in the area?
Some - the community widely supports Driskill Halfway House and accepts our residents into their homes and businesses to earn a living. Some find full-time work, others are part-time. Often, locals will call the Driskill Halfway House looking for someone to work with them on a project. Residents are encouraged to put in applications around town and network in the community to find employment; and we will assist in any way possible.
How many residents are there at Driskill Halfway House?
Our goal is to house 20 residents on site at any time. We maintain a comfortable house and try not to overcrowd. Residents are always on the move and beds fill up fast so please contact us if you're wishing to be considered to live at Driskill Halfway House.
Is church attendance required?
Yes, we are a faith-based Christian organization that teaches the Bible and Jesus as the Son of God. Residents can attend the church of their preference in Tulia.
I have a criminal record / I'm on probation / parole. Can I live at Driskill Halfway House?
Yes, you must receive approval from the Executive Director. These are handled on a case-by-case basis. However; we cannot accept sex offenders/violent offenders.
Are meals provided?
A wide variety of food is available in our refrigerators and pantry. We also have a microwave oven for your convenience. Usually residents prepare meals for the house and themselves.
Can people come visit me?
Yes, in approved visiting areas you are more than welcome to have visitors certain hours of the day. Overnight guests are not permitted.
Do you do drug and alcohol tests & monitoring?
Yes, the Driskill Halfway House conducts random testing for drugs and alcohol. It is expected that all residents remain clean and sober while staying with us.
Can I smoke cigarettes at the Driskill Halfway House?
Although we encourage residents to stop smoking, we do permit it in designated outside areas.
How long am I required to stay at the Driskill Halfway House?
This is a case-by-case basis. Typically, 6 months to a (1) year with a review by the Executive Director.
Are there AA/NA Meetings and do we study the Big Book and work the steps, etc.?
No, we host Celebrate Recovery meetings on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00pm - 8:00pm.
Can I have an automobile and come and go as I please?
On a case-by-case basis residents may be approved to have a vehicle on property for employment and church attendance only. There is a curfew and residents are required to sign-out any time they leave and sign-in upon return.
Will they drive me to and from work and to all my appointments?
We work with residents as much as possible to get them to necessary appointments, etc. Many residents get picked up and taken home by their employers. Transportation requirements need to be discussed with Driskhill Halfway House staff.
