What is the application process for entry?
All applicants are screened individually by the House or Office Manager. Please contact us at the number above for a personal interview.
Do I have to pay rent? What programs or insurance do you accept?
Residents are required to pay $20 per day + $250 deposit upon admission. We do not accept insurance or government payments.
Are there lots of jobs in the area?
Some - the community widely supports Driskill House and accepts our residents into their homes and businesses to earn a living. Some find full-time work, others are part-time. Often, locals will call the Driskill House looking for someone to work with them on a project. Residents are encouraged to put in applications around town and network in the community to find employment; and we will assist in any way possible.
How many residents are there at Driskill House?
Our goal is to have 12 residents on site at any time. We maintain a comfortable house and try not to overcrowd. Residents are always on the move and beds fill up fast so please contact us if you're wishing to be considered to live at Driskill House.
Is church attendance required?
Yes, we are a faith-based Christian organization that teaches the Bible and Jesus as the Son of God. Residents attend Trinity Fellowship in Amarillo on Saturday evenings and Sundays residents have a choice of different venues to attend worship services..
I have a criminal record / I'm on probation / parole. Can I live at Driskill House?
You must receive approval from the Executive Director, yes. These are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Are meals provided?
A wide variety of food is available in our refrigerators and pantry. We also have a microwave oven for your convenience. Usually residents prepare meals for the house and themselves.
Can people come visit me?
Yes, in approved visiting areas you are more than welcome to have visitors certain hours of the day. Overnight guests are not permitted.
Do you do drug and alcohol tests & monitoring?
Yes, the Driskill House conducts random testing for drugs and alcohol. It is expected that all residents remain clean and sober while staying with us.
Can I smoke cigarettes at the Driskill House?
Although we encourage residents to stop smoking, we do permit it in designated outside areas.
How long am I required to stay at the Driskill House?
This is a case-by-case basis. Typically 6 months with a review by the Executive Director. An additional 2-4 month extension may be granted upon completion of review if necessary.
Are there AA Meetings and do we study the Big Book and work the steps, etc.?
We host a Bible-based step program on Monday nights and an Identity in God series on Thursday nights.
Can I have an automobile and come and go as I please?
On a case-by-case basis certain residents (after 2 months residency) may be approved to have a vehicle on property. There is a curfew and residents are required to sign-out any time they leave and sign-in upon return.
Will they drive me to and from work and to all my appointments?
We work with residents as much as possible to get them to necessary appointments, etc. Unfortunately however, we do not have the manpower or funding to be on the road all day. Many residents get picked up and taken home by their employers.
Will I have a caseworker or counselor?
We have a psychologist on staff to work with clients individually or in group settings.
